Pablo Picasso’s Porn Room

Today, we visited el Museo Picasso in el Barrio del Borne. Borne was a cute little district full of tiny, windy side streets, more similar to those of Toledo. Lots of cute restaurants, gelato stops and cheap stores.

The Picasso Museum was amazing! I had already seen many of his works at the museums in Madrid, but this museum was ALL Picasso- SO MANY PIECES OF WORK!!!

Now, I realize Picasso is way more than just funky lines and circles and child-like drawings. The painting style we affiliate mostly with Picasso was actually his much later years, after he had already mastered all other classical styles. Didn’t know that.

There are rooms dedicated to different eras where Picasso mastered different styles: life-like portraits of people, life-like sceneries, more abstract takes, paintings comprised entirely of dots, French Paris style with bright, bold colors of close-up objects or people… everything. All the art in the different rooms looked like it had been drawn by different artists, but it was ALL Picasso. Incredible.

The museum also had about 35 pieces of pottery sculptures, such as dishes with drawings on them or sculptures of bodies and faces.

The BEST ROOM was the Picasso porn room- full of dirty cartoons performing sexual favors or just plain having sex. There were drawings of men jacking off, getting head, having three-somes; drawings of women doing all of the same things.

Who’d have thought that Picasso’s graphic (yet ridiculously funny) porno sketches would one day be displayed in a famous museum as “art”?!

Crazy: The best word to describe Picasso, as seen in his most well-known works of insane-looking creatures…

….and his porno. :-p
